FAQ

Does the app upload my photos?

No. Clearcut processes all images entirely on your device using on-device AI models. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. For details, please refer to the Privacy Policy.

Why does the app need to download AI models?

Some advanced features (like AI uncropping and text-to-background) require AI models that are too large to bundle with the app. These models are downloaded once and stored locally on your device for future use.

How do I save the result?
  • After processing, tap Save to save to your photo library.
  • If saving fails, check the Photo Library permission in iOS Settings.
How do I report a bug?

Please email us and include the steps to reproduce the issue, a screenshot or screen recording, and (if possible) the original image that triggers the problem.

Subscriptions & Purchases

If you subscribe to Pro, the subscription may auto-renew unless you cancel it in iOS.

Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment information.

Troubleshooting

Background removal quality is poor
  • Ensure the subject has clear contrast with the background.
  • Use the mask editing tool to refine edges manually.
  • This feature requires iOS 17.0+ for best results.
Saving fails or the app cannot access Photos
  • Go to iOS Settings → Clearcut and allow Photos access.
  • Make sure your device has enough free storage.
AI model download fails or is stuck
  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • Make sure you have enough free storage (models can be up to 2.5 GB).
  • Force quit the app and retry the download.
Processing is slow
  • AI processing performance varies by device. Newer devices process faster.
  • Close other apps to free up memory.
  • Restart your device if processing seems unusually slow.
