Lunara (the "App") is provided by Yong Wang ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the App.
Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.
Privacy First: Lunara is designed with privacy at its core. All your health data — including period records, symptoms, diet, exercise, and body temperature — is stored exclusively on your device. We have no servers, no accounts, and no way to access your data. Your data never leaves your phone.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to use Lunara. There is no registration, no login, and no user profile. The app functions entirely on your device.
1.2 Health Data You Record
Lunara allows you to record the following health-related data, all of which is stored locally on your device:
- Menstrual cycle data: Period start/end dates, flow level
- Symptoms: Physical, emotional, and skin symptoms with severity levels
- Diet: Daily diet tags (e.g., caffeine, hydration, supplements)
- Exercise: Activity type, duration, and intensity
- Basal Body Temperature (BBT): Daily temperature readings
- Cycle predictions and insights: Generated locally from your data
This data is classified as special category data (health data) under GDPR and similar regulations. We treat it with the highest level of protection — by never transmitting it off your device.
1.3 Diagnostics & Analytics (Limited)
- Apple Diagnostics/Analytics: Depending on your device settings, Apple may provide aggregated and/or anonymized diagnostics information (such as crash reports and performance data) to developers. We may use this information to improve app stability and performance.
- No Third-Party Analytics SDKs: We do not use any third-party analytics SDKs. There is no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels.
1.4 Information Accessed with Your Permission
- Apple Health (HealthKit): With your explicit permission, the App can read and write the following HealthKit data types:
- Read & Write: Menstrual Flow, Basal Body Temperature
- Read Only: Workouts, Sleep Analysis, Resting Heart Rate
- Notifications: Optional. Used to send local reminders for period predictions, ovulation windows, daily logging, and BBT measurement. No data is sent to any server for notifications.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we handle to:
- Provide cycle predictions, ovulation estimates, and phase tracking
- Generate personalized health insights by analyzing correlations in your data
- Estimate hormone trend patterns based on your cycle data
- Provide AI-powered wellness suggestions using Apple's on-device Foundation Models
- Sync relevant data with Apple Health for a unified health view
- Send local notification reminders based on your preferences
Important: All data processing — including cycle predictions, hormone trend estimation, insight analysis, and AI-generated advice — occurs entirely on your device. No health data is ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party service.
3. Data Storage and Security
3.1 100% Local Processing
All your health data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework on your device. There are no cloud servers, no remote databases, and no data synchronization to external services.
3.2 No Cloud Storage
We do not operate any servers. Your data exists only on your device. If you delete the app, all data is permanently removed.
3.3 On-Device AI
AI-powered wellness suggestions use Apple Foundation Models, which run entirely on your device. Your health data is never sent to any AI service, cloud API, or external model.
3.4 Subscription Data
If you subscribe to premium features, purchases are managed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.
4. Third-Party Services
4.1 Apple Services
- App Store / StoreKit: Handles in-app purchases, subscriptions, and purchase verification
- HealthKit: Provides secure read/write access to health data stored in Apple Health (with your permission)
- Foundation Models: On-device AI model for generating wellness suggestions (iOS 26+, no network requests)
4.2 No Third-Party SDKs
Lunara does not include any third-party SDKs, tracking libraries, or advertising frameworks. The app makes no network requests except for Apple system services (StoreKit subscription verification).
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Because we have no access to your data (it never leaves your device), we cannot share it even if requested. The only exception is data you explicitly choose to share via HealthKit with other apps on your device.
We may disclose information only if required to:
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect and defend our rights or property
- Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing
- Protect the personal safety of users or the public
6. Children's Privacy
Our application is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Access and Control
- You can revoke HealthKit or Notification permissions at any time through your device settings
- You can delete the app and all local data at any time by removing the app from your device
- You can edit or delete individual health entries within the app at any time
- If you contact us for support, you can request deletion of those support communications
7.2 HealthKit Access
HealthKit integration is optional. You can use the app without granting HealthKit access. To manage permissions: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Lunara.
8. International Data Transfers
Because all health data processing occurs on your device, your data is not transferred to any servers. If Apple diagnostics/analytics are enabled on your device, Apple may process related information in locations where it operates its services.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Privacy Policy and update the "Last Updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information under the CCPA. Because we do not collect, sell, or share your personal information (all data stays on your device), these provisions have limited applicability to the app.
11. GDPR Compliance (For EU Users)
For users in the European Union:
- Health data recorded in this app is classified as special category data under Article 9 of the GDPR. We protect it by ensuring it never leaves your device.
- No data is transmitted to any server — processing occurs exclusively on-device
- You have full control: you can view, edit, delete your data, or remove the app entirely
- No consent management platform is needed because we do not collect or process data remotely
- You may contact us with privacy questions or requests related to support communications
12. Medical Disclaimer
Lunara is not a medical device. Cycle predictions, hormone trend estimates, and AI-generated wellness suggestions are for informational purposes only and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider with questions about your health.
